Rowdy is Arnold’s only real friend outside of his family. Rowdy and Arnold are not accepted into community very much and are treated as miss fits. Miss fits meaning Rowdy was born angry and Arnold was born with multiple brain problems. Not many people really accepted them apart from each other. Rowdy was the toughest kid on the res and Arnold was a big target for bullying. He would think of himself as ‘the most available loser’. Arnold felt safe with rowdy. Rowdy was his protector. They are so close that Rowdy even shared his comics with him. Rowdy didn’t like to tell anyone about them because he was scared of being teased for not being into the most boy things. Rowdy and Arnolds friendship is important because they can share things with each other that they couldn’t share safely anyway else.
